"Too many children? That's like saying, 'Too many flowers.'" - Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Ok, maybe there isn't a population bomb. But aren't there too many mouths to feed?
Nope. It's been shown that there is plenty of room for everyone on the planet. Thus, it follows that the extra room could be used for crops. Even Africa, a continent which tends to be the elephant in the room when it comes to discussion about overpopulation, has more than enough space to grow food which would feed its growing population. More to it, the extra amount of food Africa could grow would bring billions of dollars to their economy (source). If that's not convincing enough, one should consider the 988.42 million acres on the African continent that are "ripe for commercial farming" (source). It is indeed believed that Africa has the potential to feed the entire world (source). |
