"Too many children? That's like saying, 'Too many flowers.'" - Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Is there no end to our growth?
The world is experiencing an increase of about 4.3 people every second. That, along with the fact that there are over 7 billion people on the planet, tends to make people nervous. 7 billion is an enormous number, and it's only going to keep getting bigger, right? Before we make this claim, let's take a closer look. This video looks at the world's projected population growth based on global total fertility rates.

Before we make this claim, let's take a closer look. This video looks at the world's projected population growth based on global total fertility rates.
As stated in the video, our population will likely not grow uncontrollably. The annual population growth rate has been declining significantly since the 1970's, and it is expected to keep doing so. This graph also shows how the earth's human population will be close to peaking by the year 2100, after which it will begin to decline. Again, we can make these projections because the global total fertility rate is rapidly declining.
